Résumé

Cet article se propose d'étudier comparativement la manière dont la conceptualisation et la constitution de la personne et de diverses entités collectives déterminent la nature de la relation homme-animal dans les Grassfields de l'ouest Cameroun et à Madagascar. La première partie tente d'esquisser les contours et le contenu de la “personne Grassfields” et de la “personne Malgache” en relevant tout autant leurs différences que leurs similitudes. La deuxième partie décrit et analyse deux modalités de la relation homme-animal – la capture et la chasse – à Madagascar et dans les Grassfields respectivement, pour mesurer comment et à quel degré les différences dans la conceptualisation de la personne influent sur la nature de la relation homme-animal, dans chaque contexte ethnographique.
