Lévi-Strauss on Art: A Reconsideration
Abstract
Cet article fait une critique de l'hypothèse avancée par Levi Strauss sur le rapport entre la structure de l'art et la structure sociale des Caduveo d'Amérique du Sud. L'auteur propose une révision de l'hypothèse de Lévi-Strauss. II procède ensuite à l'application de cette hypothèse aux blasons produits par une certaine procédure héraldique qui a donné en France et en Angleterre des formes presque identiques à celles des Caduveo étudies par Lévi-Strauss.
