Ethnic Succession in the Eastern Townships of Quebec
Abstract
Cet article présente une analyse de la révolution socio-économique des colonies de gens d'origine gaélique dans le comte de Compton au Québec (1829-1976). L'arrivée des Canadiens français et l'érosion des solidarités gaéliques sont mises en contraste avec les mécanismes qui maintiennent encore un certain degré d'identité culturelle. On presente un profil de Tidentite culturelle gaelique dans le temps pour montrer que meme si une conscience culturelle persiste, il n'y a pas de mecanisme pour assurer une continuite culturelle a ce segment du milieu culturel quebecois.
