Trapping and Welfare: The Economics of Trapping in a Northern Saskatchewan Chipewyan Village
Abstract
Cet article étudie l'économie de la trappe telle que pratiquée par une importante communauté de Chipewya au nord de la Saskatchewan. Deux modes différents de pratiquer la trappe se sont développés dans cette communauté. Aucun de ces deux modes n'apporte un profit significatif immédiat au trappeur. Beaucoup de trappeurs persistent a trapper meme s'ils y perdent de l'argent durablement. Il est clair que la trappe doit être considérée comme une expression des valeurs morales et politiques plutôt que comme une activité économique.
